MENTORSHIP: RECOGNIZING THE IMPACTS THAT OFTEN GO UNRECOGNIZED
In a world where success is often seen as a solo journey, the role of mentors, partners, and the people who contribute to our growth is frequently overlooked. As someone who has spent over 17 years navigating the fields of ICT, Defense, Development, Prints, and Branding, I, Wilson Babangida Agboti, recognize that the heights I've reached are not mine alone. This article is not about me, but rather about the few among several individuals and brands whose influence has been pivotal in shaping the professional and personal milestones I've attained.
Throughout my journey, I've had the privilege of working
with remarkable individuals and companies, each of whom has left an indelible
mark on my career. Some of these relationships have evolved into long-standing
partnerships, while others have ended, yet their impact remains. For others,
our connection is one of lasting gratitude. Regardless of where the journey has
taken us, the lessons learned from these collaborations are invaluable.
Among the many, I'd like to express my deep appreciation for
brands such as Legacy Computer Institute,
now known as Gusau Institute of
Technology, and its visionary owner,
General Aliyu Gusau. Working with them laid the foundation for much of my
expertise today. Equally significant is the Kaduna State Pilgrim Board, where I had the honor of working under Prince (Yerima) Yusuf Kajuru, an exceptional
leader who shaped my approach to governance and service.
The creative world has also played a role in my development,
with individuals like Nnenna Ugwu-Agha, the talented CEO of Wytex & Kakes, whose brand has been a
source of our business survival over the years due to her constant patronage, oh yes! our first corporate website project in Abuja was their website. I also owe much to IST Nigeria and its exceptional CEO, Mr. Tomi Araromi, whose leadership has
been a beacon of growth and innovation. My profound gratitude to Nigerian Agricultural Mechanization Equipment Leasing Company (NAMEL) and its dynamic Boss Dr. Ahmed T. Adekunle for embracing me at my early stage of corporate branding and the life coaching offered to me. And how could I forget AIT, guided by my Boss Raymond Dokpesi Jr., whose commitment
to the media industry provided me with new perspectives and insights
In the field of humanitarian work, WaterAid Nigeria and USAID have been a standout experience, where I not only
grew as a professional service provider but also as a person. I am eternally grateful to the
friends who welcomed me and those who gave me a place in their organization,
helping me contribute to such a noble cause.
There are brands that have stood by me consistently for the last 5-8 years, such as Sanmiky83 Concept and my good friend Mr. Lawrence Wadahi Stephen, who have been unwavering in their support. To Toptech Consults Ltd and my brother Mohammed Braimah, as well as Tooskhat Ltd, run by my fellow Gent Tomitope Awe, Firmpaws Ltd by my Jigga man Jerry Gwom, GGSL Nig Ltd and Aukland Integrated Resources, your trust and patronage have been priceless gifts in our shared journey.
I must also mention other influential organizations, initiatives and like-minds, like In4Tech Cof 2010, Lavado, 1205, West African Youth Alliance (WAYA), and Chatham House, which have all contributed
phenomenally to my growth, helping to refine my social life, skills and
perspectives over the years.
There are many more important personalities, brands, and
government offices I have chosen not to mention by name due to the sensitivity
of their roles, but they all hold a special place in my heart. To each of you,
I say this: your contributions complete me, complete my company BA Integrated Services, and have played
a part in shaping my present and future. We are together in this journey for
good.
To everyone who has ever walked with me along this
path—thank you! Your mentorship, collaboration, and support often go
unrecognized, but I hope you know that your impact never fades.
I Love You All
Wilson Bababngida Agboti, mwpc
