EMPOWERING AFRICA'S YOUTH IN SECURITY CONSULTANCY – A CALL TO ACTION BY WILSON BABANGIDA AGBOTI

EMPOWERING AFRICA'S YOUTH IN SECURITY CONSULTANCY – A CALL TO ACTION

In today's rapidly evolving world, security is no longer just a governmental responsibility—it’s everyone’s business. As a seasoned professional in Security and Protocol Management, I have seen firsthand the critical role security plays in shaping the safety and prosperity of societies. My consultancy offers top-tier services ranging from outsourcing of professional private guards and bouncers to armed and unarmed personnel, as well as VIP protection and escort services as well as private investigative services. But while we provide these solutions, we cannot overlook a fundamental truth: the future of security lies in the hands of our youth.

It is high time African youths, especially in Nigeria, recognized the vast opportunities within the security sector and took an active role in securing our future. The government alone cannot tackle the vast scope of insecurity without significant citizen participation and the empowerment of young minds. Now more than ever, we must encourage our youths to delve into fields such as:

·         Cybersecurity and Sustainability

·         Information Security Systems

·         Homeland Security

·         National Security and Intelligence

These are some of the 21st-century security disciplines that will define the future, and Africa must catch up. The security landscape has drastically changed, and we need young professionals equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and skills to meet these challenges head-on.

In the words of my former mentor, Mr. Tomi Araromi, “The future started yesterday; as of today, we are already late.” The world has surged forward, and Africa cannot afford to be left behind. I encourage every young African to take advantage of the educational opportunities available, whether through formal academic courses or hands-on training, to equip themselves in this ever-evolving sector.

This is not just a call to protect ourselves but a call to build careers and contribute to the sustainability of our communities. The security sector offers limitless possibilities for professional growth, innovation, and impact, from physical security and intelligence to the digital realm of cybersecurity.

Together, we can reshape the narrative of insecurity and build a safer, more secure Africa, where the protection of lives and property is not just a job but a collective duty.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

God bless the Youth of Africa.

God heal the world.
