Heartfelt Message of Hope and Solidarity with the People of Maiduguri by Wilson Babangida Agboti of CIA

Dear People of Maiduguri,

It is with a heavy heart that we extend our deepest sympathies to you in the wake of the devastating flood caused by the overflow from the Alau Dam. We are deeply saddened by the ugly incident, the destruction of homes, and the displacement of families in this tragic situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this extremely difficult time.

As a community, you have endured and persevered through countless challenges, and we believe in the strength and resilience that defines Maiduguri and the entire Borno State. While we grieve with you, we also stand in unwavering solidarity, offering hope that together, we will overcome this crisis and begin the process of rebuilding.

We urgently call on the Nigerian government, relevant stakeholders, and the international community to respond swiftly and decisively. The scale of this disaster requires immediate humanitarian assistance to prevent further loss of life and alleviate the suffering of those affected. There is a need for emergency relief efforts to provide shelter, food, clean water, and medical support to those displaced by the floods. In addition, sustainable measures must be put in place to prevent future occurrences and protect vulnerable communities.

To our partners in the global humanitarian and development sector, we urge you to join hands in addressing this crisis. We must prioritize the lives and well-being of those affected and mobilize resources to ensure that Maiduguri and its people are not forgotten.

In this time of hardship, let us come together as one—both locally and globally—to provide the support and care that Maiduguri needs. May the spirit of unity and compassion guide us as we work to bring relief and hope to all those impacted by this flood.

Stay strong, Maiduguri. We stand with you, now and always.

With deepest sympathy and solidarity,
Wilson Babangida Agboti
