NIGERIA DEMOCRACY DAY MESSAGE BY WILSON BABANGIDA AGBOTI, FORMER WEST AFRICAN YOUTH ALLIANCE AMBASSADOR

Message by Wilson Babangida Agboti, former Youth and Development Ambassador of the West African Youth Alliance, on the Occasion of Nigeria's Democracy Day June 12, 2024

Dear Fellow Nigerians,

On this momentous occasion of Democracy Day, we come together to celebrate the resilience and progress of our beloved nation. Today marks a pivotal moment in our history, a day when we honor the sacrifices of those who fought tirelessly for our democratic freedoms and reflect on the journey we have embarked upon as a united nation.

As we commemorate this significant day, it is essential to recognize the POWER OF THE YOUTH in shaping the future of our democracy. The youth of Nigeria represent a dynamic force of innovation, creativity, and boundless potential. Our strength lies in our diversity, and our future hinges on our ability to harness this diversity to build a more inclusive, sustainable, prosperous, and just society.

Democracy is not merely a system of government; it is the embodiment of our collective aspirations and dreams. It is the commitment to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and freedom for all citizens. Today, we RENEW our HOPE and pledge to these ideals, understanding that the journey toward a perfect democracy is ongoing and requires the active participation of every Nigerian, especially the youth.

The challenges we face are significant, but they are not insurmountable. We stand at the threshold of a new era, where technology, education, and civic engagement can drive transformative change. Let us leverage these tools to bridge the gaps in our society, promote transparency, and ensure that every voice is heard.

As the former Youth and Development Ambassador of the West African Youth Alliance (WAYA), I humbly call upon our President H.E President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and all young Nigerians to rise to the occasion. Let us be the vanguards of positive change, the champions of sustainable development, and the custodians of our democratic values. Together, we can build a nation where every individual has the opportunity to thrive, where governance is accountable, and where our democratic heritage is preserved for future generations.

On this Democracy Day, let us celebrate our achievements, acknowledge our challenges, and commit ourselves to the continued pursuit of a brighter, more democratic Nigeria. The future of our nation is in our hands, and with unity, determination, and vision, we can create a legacy of which we can all be proud.

Long live Nigeria, and may our democracy yield good fruits for all. Amen.

Happy Democracy Day!

Wilson Babangida Agboti, ITD, MCITP, MCSD, ISM.
